Le Lay is an internationally recognised specialist for his work on surfaces and interfaces. His recent research on the realisation and study of the emerging properties of new two-dimensional allotropes of silicon, germanium, tin and lead (called artificial Xenes) has been at the origin of numerous international studies and passionate debates, giving his work an undeniable pioneering character and G.
