Thesis title : Tungsten crystalline evolution under helium irradiation: bubble formation and evolution steps (CEA/IRFM, CINaM partnership)

Abstract:

The thesis has broadened our understanding of the effects of helium irradiation on tungsten, the key material for nuclear fusion. Using an innovative approach combining nanoscience techniques such as grazing incidence small angle X-ray scattering (GISAXS) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM), the growth dynamics and shape evolution of helium bubbles in tungsten were precisely characterised. The results obtained are essential for refining simulation models and improving the design of materials for fusion.
