Quantum phenomena in materials

Introduction

The second research topic focuses on the physics of quantum phenomena that take place in materials, such as optical luminescence, effective magnetic interactions, magneto-elastic and magneto-electric couplings, electronic and spin transport, magnetic excitations, etc.
Our research activity is focused on three main research lines:

  • linear and non-linear optical properties of bulk materials and nanostructures;
  • electronic and magnetic properties of low-dimensional systems;
  • the modelling of spin transport in magnetic heterostructures.
